Tip 1: The close presence of a banana, and its ethylene gas, speeds the ripening process for a tomato.
Tip 2: Tomatoes do not ripen faster on a windowsill, although it is pretty and my sons, as many, love to display their garden-tomato efforts, the sunlight, needed to grow the tomatoes, is not not needed to ripen it.

Tomato plants grow fast and they can grow quite large, so you will need a large pot- 25-30 gallon. Pot type is important.
